Harris Hematoxylin Solution
Harris Hematoxylin produces a deep, dark blue-purple stain. It is usually used in regressive methods, but can also be used stepwise in both histology and cytology preparations. Given the improved selectivity of nuclear staining, it is often used to demonstrate malignant and nonmalignant cells in exfoliative cytology. This formulation contains no mercury oxide and stains within 2-5 minutes.
